Hong Kong Tourism Board Lucky Draw 2020 Year End Eve

Hong Kong Tourism Board has planned to arrange lucky draw with HK$4 million in prizes on this year’s New Year’s Eve, after the traditional fireworks were cancelled.

The draw is to open to all Hong Kong locals and tourists where there will be thousands of prizes up for grabs.

It works like this:

  • Round-trip plane tickets from Cathay Pacific (which is the grand prize) are to be given to 10 lucky winners.

  • Supermarket vouchers, iPhones, and luxury hotel breaks can also be won.

The total prizes available for all Hong Kong locals and tourists are going to worth HK$4 million. This is the first year ever in Hong Kong where prizes of such total amount is given to the public.

The lucky draw is hosted by the Hong Kong Tourism Board. This is how the lucky draw will take place:

  • The draw will be done online, over two rounds on the event’s official website.

According to the Hong Kong Tourism Board, an enhanced version of Symphony of Lights – the daily light and sound show over Victoria Harbor – will be held at midnight on New Year’s Eve, with smaller-scale rooftop fireworks hosted by several buildings on the Hong Kong Island side.

ViuTV will broadcast a countdown show. The countdown will also be broadcast on the Hong Kong Tourism Board’s website and some other social media platforms.

Other prizes that are available include supermarket vouchers, iPhones, luxury hotel and spa stays, and tickets to Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park.

In the previous year, the total cost of the traditional fireworks display cost HK$14 million. For year 2020’s new year eve event which includes the enhanced Symphony of Lights show, lucky draw prizes and other technical support, the total cost is expected to be just HK$10 million.
